[Translators-l] سلام

This whole email exchange is such a mess.... and in general translator's list keeps getting spammed with irrelevant stuff. Maybe the list should be monitored for spam before the emails are sent out to all?

What is going on is that A. Tavakolli has apparently been receiving some spam (perhaps clicked on some attachment when some of the mailboxes on translators list were infected) asking for his account info. He's saying that he does not have such things and doesn't want to receive that spam, while he's probably receiving those emails not from the people on the list, but it's a result of some infected box. The point is, he's not asking to be paid to translate, so please stop explaining that. I'll try to explain that in Farsi now.

Hi,
Thanks for your explanation. I have been receiving his email for several days and wondered what to do.

As you mentioned he says that he had no  PayPal or Credit Card.
Anyway thank and good luck to you .

Kindly regards

Certainly because you have subscribed to the Wikimedia Translators list. The mail was not sent strictly to you but to the list. I received it as well (even though I can't read Persian, I just used the Google Translation tool to see what it means).

Anyway, the user was asking for money for his translations and complained that he did not have a "Paï-Pahlle" (sic!) account. Sorry for him, but translators on Wikimedia are usually not paid (except in very specific projects for which you *may* be granted a small part of a total granted for these specific translations).

The conditions for these grants are expiained before you start (not every payment systems are possible as they require additional costs notably for transfering small amounts to many contributors).

But even in this case most of those that won the grant have optend to just leave the amount to the Foundation as a standard donation (to support the infrastructure, the maintenance and operational costs, and organizing events in some countries or where development and training is needed, or to pay some necessary developments, or pay licences for some contents that would otherwise not be available to everyone, or to pay access rights to public libraries to scan books and photos... There are various needs explained in the budget information documents published regularly by the foundation that alos explains each year how the donations will be used for new projects wanted, discusses and first approved by the community).

Sorry for not answering in Persian, this is not a language in which I can write (I can just decipher it into English with automated online translation tools).
