[Translators-l] Important translation request - March 2011 WMF update

The English version says: "See the study for more detailed breakdowns
of cohorts of individual editors over time, and for data from other
languages."

I didn't quite understand what the word "cohorts" refers to here.
Translations to other languages i know didn't help. Can anyone please
clarify this line?
