Thanks for forwarding, Erik. I've also forwarded it to the Design cabal (design at lists.wikimedia.org).

The inter language links remain untouched (read: out of scope) in the first version of the universal language selector. There are vague plans to address them in a later version, and that looks like a good choice for now.
